File the application that describes the system you are actually building. Then keep it true when the AHJ cuts two modules for a fire path.

Eversource Massachusetts interconnection Simplified package
The current public Eversource page splits Simplified vs Expedited/Standard by size and configuration. Simplified non-area-network (radial): single-phase or three-phase UL-listed inverter-based systems 25 kW AC or less. Application fee listed at $0. Simplified area network: listed inverter-based systems with the 1/15 of customer minimum load screen (and the 25 kW cap on area network as published), with fees listed at $100 below 3 kW and $300 above 3 kW. [CONFIRM AS OF 2026-09-19] Expedited/Standard is for larger systems, service mismatches, and non-inverter generators, with a $/kW fee table (minimum and maximum published on that page). Do not pick Simplified because it sounds friendly if the service is three-phase and you stacked single-phase inverters.
A complete Simplified upload, matching Eversource installer-session checklists we have seen in public seminar slides, includes the online application, electrical sketch, one-line, site plan, inverter cut sheet, UL 1741 SB certification if not already on file, and a work-request number if there is a new service or upgrade. Identify who owns the property if the interconnecting customer is not the owner. Identify the electric customer vs system owner. If those names differ, the exhibits for consent exist for a reason. Use them.
What the sketch has to show
Show existing and proposed service, revenue meter, production meter if SMART or the company wants it, and where generation ties in. Show main breaker size, external disconnect when required or installed, kW rating, customer name, address, inverter models, and existing backup generation. Show actual proposed equipment. Eversource has told installers not to specify equipment TBD by the company and not to use placeholder disconnect sizes. If you revise the sketch, date it and give it a revision number. We use the same revision language as the AHJ set so nobody wonders which PDF is live.
The sketch does not need to be a Massachusetts PE stamp for Eversource Simplified, per those seminar materials. It does need to be legible. A hand sketch that shows real devices beats a CAD one-line that still says TBD. The town may still want a PE on the permit design. Those are different desks. Athol will not tell Eversource a PE sealed a sketch we never coordinated, and we will not tell a town that Eversource “does not need a one-line” as an excuse to skip the AHJ SLD.
Portal, seminars, and the tariff on the desk
Contractors apply through Eversource’s PowerClerk portal. The company’s public solar timeline still describes application review in about one to three weeks if the file is complete. Missing information extends that. Treat it as a planning range, not a contract SLA. Eversource posts interconnection resources, including tariff, seminar dates, meter policy, and checklists. Athol’s July 2026 interconnection-data post noted Eversource East Simplified on September 9, 2026 on the Mass.gov calendar. Send a PM to the session that matches your territory. A West Expedited seminar will not teach East Simplified clicks.
Company tariffs were stamp-approved April 27, 2026 in the public Mass.gov set. Use those exhibits. If D.P.U. 26-57’s $225 common system modification fee is in effect for Simplified applicants when you quote, it is an interconnection cost, not a town fee and not a SMART adder. Storage is not a footnote. If a battery is on the job, say so on the application and on the SLD. A battery added after Simplified screening is a new review. UL 1741 SB inverter settings belong on the sketch. Massachusetts has pointed installers at that listing path for IEEE 1547 compliance. [CONFIRM AS OF 2026-09-19]
Matching the town set, then PTO
If ISD or the town cuts modules, change PowerClerk the same day. eversource massachusetts interconnection files that still show 10 kW after a 7.6 kW permit will not PTO cleanly. After inspection, upload what the completion checklist actually lists. As-builts if the array moved. Meter-socket photos if they asked. Then wait for written PTO. Do not energize on a town sticker. Do not reuse a National Grid Exhibit A on an Eversource account. Do not reuse an Eversource East sketch on a Unitil Fitchburg meter. The portal will not translate it for you. Read the bill. Name the EDC on the cover. If the account is on a municipal light plant, you are in a different article.
East vs West, storage, and what we refuse to placeholder
Eversource Massachusetts is not one seminar. East Simplified is not West Expedited. Western Massachusetts Springfield jobs still use Eversource, but the workshop calendar and the desk are not Boston’s. If your PM attended an East Simplified session and then filed a West Expedited commercial roof with the same sketch habits, expect a hold. Read the application page for the path you are actually on. Bring the one-line you filed, not a slide deck, to the session that matches the territory.
Storage questionnaires and operating modes belong in the eversource massachusetts interconnection upload. If the battery is AC-coupled, show both inverters. If it is DC-coupled, show the hybrid. If export limiting is part of the story, show the setting and the device. A Simplified path can still die on a battery you treated as a footnote. UL 9540 listing notes belong with the ESS cut sheet, not as a promise in an email.
Service upgrades need a work request number when Eversource’s checklist says so. Do not invent one. Do not omit one if the main is changing. The town electrical permit for a service change is still clock 1. The work request is clock 2. If you only pull the solar permit and then discover the 100 A main cannot take the backfeed, you now have two new applications. Photograph the panel on intake day so that discovery happens in the office.
We refuse placeholders: TBD inverters, MIN disconnects, “meter by company” as a substitute for showing the existing meter, and module counts that still match a dead sales layout. Date every revised sketch. If ISD commented and PowerClerk still has revision 0, you did not finish. Parallel filing is only parallel when the files agree. Phone the office if a completeness email arrived and the town set already moved. We will match them before we argue with the portal.
PTO remains a letter. Meter policy still sits on Eversource’s resource page. Read it for production meter and socket rules instead of assuming National Grid’s completion memo applies. Different company, different closeout. The AHJ sticker is still not that letter.
Installer questions on Eversource Simplified
The portal asked for a work request number. What is that?

You can file a guess. You will revise. We would rather file once with frozen SKUs. Parallel is fine. Fiction is not.
What if we are on a spot network?
Read the Simplified network criteria on Eversource’s page, including the 1/15 minimum-load screen. Do not force radial Simplified. Wrong path is a restart.
