Syracuse NY Solar Sales Proposal for a National Grid Account

A Syracuse customer on a National Grid account is about to see a price. The page that earns trust is plain on purpose. It names three sources, and it does not let them share one number. Niagara Mohawk d/b/a National Grid is the utility. The SIR application is the interconnection record. The NY-Sun upstate dashboard is the incentive screen. A Syracuse NY solar sales proposal that welds those into a single dollar-per-watt has mixed a tariff, an application, and a dashboard you may not even have a rate from.

The date on this draft is October 3, 2026. The revised SIR tariff is already in effect. It became effective October 1, 2026, including for Niagara Mohawk. Cost matrices that would give a public comparison are not due until March 31, 2027. Anything typed today has to live with both of those facts.

Three lines that do not share a number

Write the proposal so a reviewer can cover any one line and the other two still stand on their own.

The utility line names Niagara Mohawk d/b/a National Grid and identifies a Syracuse account. It states that the revised Standardized Interconnection Requirements took effect for this utility on October 1, 2026, under the Commission order in Case 24-E-0621. It does not state an incentive. A study price, if you have one, belongs on its own row.

The SIR application line carries the AC kW, the export, and the inverter model you submitted, or it says the application is not filed and those values are still design values. Status belongs here, with a date: not filed, filed, or study estimate received. A customer who reads only this line should see interconnection, not a rebate.

The dashboard line names the NY-Sun upstate dashboard and the date someone looked. Upstate residential block 14 is limited to NYSEG, RG&E, and National Grid territories, so a residential Syracuse account can fall in that group. You do not know whether block 14 is open, and you do not know its dollar-per-watt. If the dashboard shows no rate, write that the rate is not confirmed. Do not borrow a figure from a 2025 job or from another utility.

A commercial proposal in Syracuse does not get block 14. That block is residential. If a commercial incentive is not visible on the dashboard on October 3, the commercial incentive line stays unconfirmed for the same reason. An empty line is an accurate proposal. A filled line without a source is a guess.

National Grid after the October 1 tariff

On October 3 the revised SIR is already the rule for a Niagara Mohawk account. Do not write "pending tariff," and do not tell the customer the September conversation still governs. If the application was filed before October 1, put that filing date on the application line and read what National Grid is using now. Do not invent a portal field name or an application fee to sit beside the tariff sentence.

Interconnection stays in its own section. Inverter model, AC kW, export, and service voltage in that section match the one-line you attach. If the proposal and the one-line disagree, the PDF contains two projects. Fix one of them before the customer sees the file.

The title block says National Grid, spelled the same way as the utility line, including Niagara Mohawk d/b/a where you cite the tariff. A NYSEG or Con Edison habit does not belong on this account.

Where the Syracuse NY solar sales proposal leaves the rate blank

A blank rate looks unfinished. An invented rate is worse. Block 14's territory list is not a price. The proposal can name the block as the one to check. It cannot multiply a made-up dollar-per-watt by system size and call the product an incentive.

Write the sentence in plain language. NY-Sun upstate dashboard checked on October 3, 2026. Residential block 14 applies only in NYSEG, RG&E, and National Grid territories. No dollar-per-watt is printed because the dashboard did not show one you are willing to lock. If the coordinator did not open the dashboard, do not write a softer sentence that implies they did. Write that the rate was not confirmed.

Keep that sentence out of the payment math unless the math is labeled as excluding any unconfirmed rebate. If the model only closes when a guessed incentive is included, do not show that model.

A house and a shop roof in the same Syracuse week do not share an incentive paragraph. The house may have a block 14 question. The shop does not inherit the answer. Same utility line. Different dashboard line.

The study estimate is not a capped price

Some Syracuse jobs already have a utility study estimate, or will receive one after the application is filed. The proposal may report that figure. It has to report it as the utility's estimate, with the date, and it must not call the figure a capped price.

Cost matrices, National Grid included, are not due until March 31, 2027. There is no public matrix today that turns an estimate into a price you can point at. By January 15, 2027 the utilities file proposals for a higher-confidence cost estimate when a developer asks. That method is not available on October 3. The filing has not been made.

The Commission did not cap the developer's payment obligation for upgrade overruns, and it did not set a single estimating formula. An estimate can move. If the installer wants a contingency on the page, label it as the installer's allowance. If the installer has not set one, leave it off. The honest study line is a dated estimate, not a ceiling.

Do not park that estimate on the NY-Sun line. Interconnection cost and incentive are different checks. A reader who adds them without labels will think the incentive pays the upgrade, or that the upgrade reduces the incentive. The three-line structure stops that only if the study figure sits with the SIR application and not with the dashboard.

What gets attached from the design

Athol prepares the sales proposal and the design behind it. The installer sells the job and builds it. The attachment should make the three lines checkable by someone who was not in the sales meeting.

Attach a one-line that names National Grid, the inverter model, AC kW, export, and voltage. Add a site plan when it shows this roof rather than a generic Syracuse layout. Keep the equipment table identical to that one-line, including the model suffix. Then write the three lines in the same order: utility, SIR application, dashboard. If you have a study estimate, put it under the application line with the words "utility estimate, not a cap."

The checklist for the rest of the customer document is in what a solar sales proposal should include. Athol produces these under sales proposals, with the drawing work on New York solar design services. A house on this National Grid account is also a residential solar design job. The interconnection record those lines refer to is the New York SIR interconnection package, not a paragraph written from memory.

Name National Grid. Name the application. Name the dashboard. Lock a dollar-per-watt only when that dashboard shows it. Call today's study estimate an estimate.
