New Britain Connecticut Solar Permit Set Before the 2028 Platform

In October 2026 the New Britain building official is still looking at drawings. A New Britain Connecticut solar permit is a plan set: site plan, one-line, attachment layout, and spec sheets. The state smart platform is not the intake for this town. Section 15 of Public Act 26-127 tells the Department of Administrative Services commissioner to implement that platform by July 1, 2028. A questionnaire dressed up as a future automated form does not show the roof, the service, or the inverter. Send the set you would have sent before the platform existed.

Section 15 was effective July 1, 2026. That date put the duty on the books. It did not open an automated permit desk in New Britain. The platform, when it exists, automatically reviews an application to construct a residential solar PV system, or that system with a residential energy storage system, and instantly releases a building permit if the project complies with the Connecticut State Building Code. The statute names SolarAPP+ from the National Laboratory of the Rockies, or a similar web platform the commissioner selects. Do not type SolarAPP+ into a New Britain title block. No town is described here as having already selected it.

Sheets the building official can review this month

Build one PDF for the address you were given. The cover states the street address, the City of New Britain, the sheet index, and the revision. It does not name a portal, and it does not list a fee. This article does not quote a New Britain fee. If a fee belongs on a city form, it comes from the city, not from a number remembered off another job.

The site plan shows the building footprint, the array on the correct roof plane, north, and the equipment a field inspector has to find: meter, inverter, disconnect, and a battery if this permit includes one. Property lines belong on the sheet only when you have a survey or another site drawing you trust. If the department has given you a written zoning dimension for this property, show it and note where it came from. If they have not, leave the string blank.

The one-line is the electrical argument. Module count and model, inverter model, point of connection, main breaker, bus rating, and service size all come from this house. If you show an AC disconnect, it appears on the site plan where the one-line puts it. A breaker landing on the one-line and a line-side connection on the site plan are two designs.

The attachment layout shows the mount type the racking design uses, the row direction, and the modules that add up to the one-line. Label roof planes so the official can tell which slope is which. Do not drop in a pathway width copied from another state. The spec sheets close the set: module, inverter, and racking, the same models as the one-line. If the model has options, a note names the option you are submitting.

  • Site plan: footprint, array, north, meter, inverter, disconnect, battery if it is in this permit.
  • One-line: modules, inverter, point of connection, main, bus, service size.
  • Attachment layout: mount type and a module count that matches the one-line.
  • Spec sheets: the same models, including racking.
  • Cover: New Britain address, sheet index, revision. No portal name and no fee you invented.

A New Britain Connecticut solar permit is still that set

Count the modules in three places before you export: the layout, the one-line, and the spec sheet. If those counts disagree, the set will come back. The same test applies to the inverter model. A model swapped in a sales conversation has to land on the drawings. The proposal is not what the building official is being asked to approve. Keep it out of the permit PDF unless the department asked for it, and even then it does not replace the four sheets above.

Permit design for this file is the plan set, produced for the installer. Residential work in New Britain this month is that product. Design staffing, if the installer needs it, still delivers a PDF. It does not put a person on the roof. Athol is not a rooftop crew. When the roof needs engineering, add the structural sheet and a Connecticut PE seal on the pages the engineer is taking. No published New Britain kilowatt cutoff belongs on that seal. If the official has a local rule, it will be in their checklist, not in a number you picked to fill the title block.

Storage stays in the same PDF

Section 15 describes the future platform as a review of a residential solar PV system, or that system with residential energy storage. That is what the platform will be able to take. It is not a reason to hold a battery off the permit until 2028. If this job includes storage, the one-line shows the battery, the site plan shows where it sits, and the battery spec is in the PDF. The equipment names match.

If storage is only a possibility, it is not on this permit. Do not draw a battery, label it future, and then describe it to the utility as if it were in the application. A future note is how the city approves an array and the interconnection file describes a different system. Either the battery is in both packages or it is in neither.

Dates that do not change this upload

The commissioner has until July 1, 2028 to implement the platform. Every municipality must allow applications through the state platform or through an alternative automated platform that meets the same requirements. A town that picks an alternative has to turn it on by January 1, 2029. Towns that use the state platform must revise residential solar permitting fees by January 1, 2029 to reflect lower permitting cost. A town using an alternative files a compliance report with the Department of Administrative Services within 60 days after it implements that platform. The report includes the compliance date and the software used.

None of those dates is a New Britain intake for October 2026. You do not attach a compliance report the city has not been said to file, and you do not put a software name or a fee on the cover.

Use the automated solar permitting page for how the platform is supposed to work, and the Public Act 26-127 page for the statute. This page is the file you send the building official now. Deleting the attachment layout because a future form might not ask for it leaves you with nothing to upload this week.

The utility package is a second PDF

The building permit is the city review. The interconnection application is the utility review. For an Eversource account in New Britain, that application can move on a different day than the building permit. The inverter, the point of connection, and the main still have to match. Eversource interconnection drawings that name a different inverter than the permit set will stall after the city has started on the roof. Do not add a form name you do not have in front of you. Same equipment, same service, same address.

Connecticut solar design for a New Britain house in October 2026 is still a site plan, a one-line, an attachment layout, and spec sheets. Storage if it is really in the job. A structural sheet if the roof needs engineering. A matching interconnection package. The 2028 platform explains why you should not throw that set away. It does not replace it.
